Laguna Seca Super Trofeo Weekend Notebook
Sportscar365’s weekend notebook from Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America at Laguna Seca…
Events on the streets of St. Petersburg and at Sebring International Raceway have been added to Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America’s updated 2020 schedule, which was released Friday by IMSA.
The single-make series, which was due to kick off at Barber Motorsports Park in April, features a heavily revised calendar that also includes the elimination of the Lamborghini World Final, planned for Misano in late October.
What was to be 12 rounds contested over six weekends will now be ten races on five circuits, kicking off at Road America on Aug. 6-8, alongside the NASCAR Xfinity Series as previously announced in April.
Trips to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen International have been maintained, albeit on different dates, while the Toronto round has been replaced with another street race in St. Pete with IndyCar.
Sebring will now close out the season on Nov. 13-15, on the weekend of the rescheduled Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
In addition to Barber and Toronto, Super Trofeo will not visit Virginia International Raceway this year, as initially planned, due to logistics issues.
Lamborghini has elected not to hold a World Final this year due to the number of end-of-year rescheduled events for its single-make series in North America and Europe.
2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Schedule (Revised):
Aug. 6-8 — Road America
Sept. 4-6 — WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
Oct. 2-4 — Watkins Glen International
Oct. 23-25 — Streets of St. Petersburg
